Hi there,

Are you planning to visit Korea?  Then by law, you need to self-quarantine for 2 weeks.  However, if you are fully vaccinated, you might be eligible to be exempt from self-quarantine for 2 weeks!!

First things first. Check if you're eligible!

* Do you have direct family in Korea?

* Did you get both 1st and 2nd doses of vaccine in the US?

If you are eligible to apply, let's get started with preparing the required documents!!

1. Collect all docs

1) Agreement

You can download the pdf file from the official website (https://consul.mofa.go.kr/).  Please sign and scan it.

2) Pledge & Vaccine

You can also download the pdf file of Pledge. Please sign and scan it.

Please scan the proof of vaccination. For me, I scanned the following card.

You should put them in one PDF file so that you can attach them altogether. If you don't know how to make attach them attached, you can submit them separately. However, you should read through the instruction. It'll specify which document should be attached in what field.

3) Passport

You need to scan both pages as such :

500

4) Family Relationship

You need to submit one of the government official documents that state you have a direct family in Korea. It could be Family certificate(가족관계증명서). The document should've been issued within 90 days.

5) Flight

You should have your flight ticket with you. You'll be asked what time you'll leave as well as the flight number. If you don't get an exempt approval by your departure, you may have to change your flight.  To be safe, submit the documents (at least) 10 days before your trip.

6) Namechange / ResidencyProof

If your name has changed by marriage or if you are departing from an airport outside of your residency, you need to present a few extra documents accordingly.

When you're done with all documents,

2. Go to https://consul.mofa.go.kr/

Click 'Applying for an Exemption from Quarantine' from the right pane.

You don't need to Sign-up. All you need is an email address.

Log in and move on to the next page.

A whole bunch of readings..  This is where you download the PDF files as well.  Read through the instructions!!!

Afterward, attach all docs that you prepared.

When you finalize the submit, you'll get the case number.  Now, you're all set!

When you receive the exempt document, which you'll receive within a week or so, you need to print out 4 different pages.  You need to hand out each page during the check-in at the airport, getting into the flight, when you arrive in Korea and etc.

I know. Things have been a real hassle.  But you can never be too careful when it comes to safety.
